BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE:
MIKE GIESKEN, OWNER GIESKEN
SALES SYSTEMS
Basically, I have been two things in my career---a very successful high school football coach (3
league champs, 1 runner-up) and a top performing sales professional(read on for awards
and accomplishments). I have an extensive background in creating plans and strategies to exceed forecasted goals on a consistent
basis. I have assisted a number of both large and small companies to improve their business through the identification of
problems and the creation of proposed solutions (several times I have contracted to serve on management teams as a Vice
President of Sales for a period of time, ranging for one to two years).
Prior to going to work on my own over
10 years ago as an independent rep and consultant, I worked at Cleveland Advanced Manufacturing Program (CAMP), where I sold
a wide variety of solutions/consulting projects to manufacturers in Ohio. There I had started as a Senior Account
Manager and was promoted to Director of Sales after taking a start-up territory to record sales
as CAMP's top producer. Prior to taking the position with CAMP, I worked with International Management Assistance Corporation
(IMAC) as Director of Sales and Marketing. There I created a sales plans and presentation that allowed
the company to go from $2MM to $5MM in sales annually in just 1 year.
A very pivotal time in my
career development was a successful stint selling advertising for a national publication owned by Edgell Communications. I
managed an 18 state region for their leading trade publication in the animal health industry. I sold to many high level clients
with several major accounts. My account management was successful to the point that I was hired by my largest advertiser (Sanofi/Abbott
Labs Animal Health). While I started out as Regional Sales Manager in charge of a distribution network in
Ohio, Michigan and Indiana (selling antibiotics, vaccines and fluid therapy products), I was promoted to Director
of Marketing after receiving recognition as Sales Manager of the Year and designation
as a member of their Ring of Excellence. My promotion sent me to their corporate office in Kansas
City, (Director of Marketing) where I had P&L responsibility for their largest business unit
($60MM), essentially managing the fluid therapy market for the animal health industry across the
whole United States (Sanofi controlled 75 to 80% market share of fluid therapy product groups).
Before these
experiences I enjoyed great growth selling accounts receivable management products for Payco-General American Credits. As
their District Marketing Manager at the tender age of 29, I was in charge of all sales & marketing in
the Cleveland branch office. I was able to go from $3MM in sales to $9MM and then $18MM in just 2 years.
During the course of my career, I have managed many accounts at the VP or higher level. This
would include high profile accounts such as DuPont, UpJohn, Abbott Laboratories, FMC, Ralston-Purina, Rockwell International,
Rubbermaid, AK Steel and Wheeling Pitt (to name a few). I have also won numerous other awards, such as
President's Club, MVP, HO Plus and set numerous sales records.
I provide a varied background to
my clients and am successful dealing with people at all levels. My focus is to help others win by providing a real understanding
of their objectives and help them to attain stated goals. This approach has served me well, throughout my career. Below is
a sampling of my diverse industry experience. I live and work in Berea, Ohio (hometown of the Cleveland Browns, Baldwin-Wallace
College and OSU coach Jim Tressel). I can always be reached at 440.227.1054.
